With the 1-Shot channels, you can layer up to 4 different sounds on a kick or snare in your drum kit and adjust each sound’s volume level, pitch, the overall blend, and more.
-
With the plug-in window open, click the Drums tab, select the kick or snare in the on-screen drum kit, then click 1-Shot in the toolbar.
-
To add a new sound to layer on the original sound, click the + button in one of the four sample cells (Sample A, B, C, or D), then choose a sound from the list.
-
To listen to a preview of the sound, click the ear button for that sample cell.
-
To invert the polarity of the layered sound, click the polarity button (Ø). When you invert the polarity of a drum mic that has multiple sources (like a drum recorded with more than one mic or using multiple layered samples) can produce different audio effects, which you might prefer when listened to in the context of the entire the drum kit,
-
In each sample cell, you can also change the gain (level), pitch, and length of each layered sound.
-
Use the XY Blend grid and its associated controls to make global changes to 1-Shot parameters:
-
Drag the dot in the grid to adjust the blend of layered sounds.
-
Click the ear button at the top of the 1-Shot window to hear a preview of the layered sounds (but not the original sound).
-
Adjust the overall mix of your layered sounds with the Level control.
-
To set the MIDI Velocity value (0–127) above which the layered sounds are triggered, adjust the Velocity Floor control . For example, you might want to have a more aggressive layered snare sound only be audible when a MIDI note triggering the snare is above a certain velocity threshold.

To hear the layered 1-Shot sounds with the original drum sound, press the appropriate key or pad on your MIDI controller. Or click out of the 1-Shot window, then click the drum in the plug-in window.
